What Would Love Do Right Now in Opening Your Heart?

Opening your heart fully may require courage to release resentment, animosity, or guilt associated with the past. It’s really about accepting your humanity and the humanity of others.

Forgiveness

Freeing yourself from resentment and animosity toward others may be accomplished through forgiveness. There are many interpretations of what it is to forgive another.

My aha moment came when I read Doreen Virtue’s Forgiveness card. I realized that forgiving someone doesn’t mean what they did is okay, it simply means I’m no longer willing to hold onto any negative feelings in response to what happened—I don’t have to forgive the action, just the person, to be at peace.

In the PragerU.com video on forgiveness, Stephen Marmar explains that forgiveness is a very complex concept. He reviews three types of forgiveness: exoneration, forbearance, and release.

Exoneration is when a person is truly sorry for hurting you and takes full responsibility (without excuses) for what they did, as well as assures you that they will not do it again—it wipes the slate entirely clean and restores the relationship.

Forbearance is when an offender makes an inauthentic apology, or blames you somehow for causing them to behave badly. It leaves you with a degree of watchfulness yet cautiously optimistic, like forgive but not forget or trust but verify, and allows you to preserve relationships with people who, while far from perfect, are still important to you.

Release is critically important for your well-being: it allows you to let go of what’s weighing you down and eating away at your chance for happiness. It does not require that you continue the relationship, but like Doreen Virtue’s concept, it asks that you let go of your bad feelings and preoccupation with the negative things that have happened to you.

Stephen Marmar concludes with, “To forgive may be divine, but when we understand its dimensions, we find that it is within our ability to do it.”

If you need an apology to forgive someone you’re unable to locate, or who is deceased, write a letter from them to you and mail it to yourself. When you read it a few days later, imagine it’s coming from the other person, allow yourself to receive the apology, and forgive them.

Forgiveness Specific to Child Abuse

Child abuse is one of the most difficult experiences to resolve, release, and heal. Some people assume the guilt and try, for many years, to forgive their abuser(s) without success, while others are determined not to forgive and are left living with the ongoing shame, pain, and hate without relief.

According to Bert Hellinger’s philosophy of forgiveness—relative to children who have been psychologically, physically, or sexually abused—if a child forgives the abuser, in addition to the abuse the child suffered, the child will assume the guilt and responsibility for the abuser’s behavior. Therefore, he insists that the child must not forgive the abuser. Based on Hellinger’s philosophy, Magui Block’s book, Healing the Family, presents a process through which abused children can heal themselves from the pain they’ve endured by giving the guilt and responsibility for the abusive behavior back to the abuser.

This is where Resonance Repatterning® comes in. This method, developed by Chloe Faith Wordsworth, releases the resonance with any unhealed parts of yourself that would keep you from forgiving yourself and/or others. You may want to consider going to the Repatterning Practitioners Association website and choosing a certified practitioner you feel guided to working with and give them a call. You’ll be amazed at the results.

May the wisdom inside you take you on a journey into your heart where your greatness abides. Now, that’s living a heart-centered, extraordinary life!

The Power of Love

“Getting gotten” and “being present” are essential to experiencing the power of love. These concepts are defined here for clarity.

The experience of getting gotten occurs when another is so present with you that you feel heard, seen, known, and understood for who you truly are, and know that anything you say or do is accepted as an act of love.

Being present involves a conscious act of awareness—mindfulness. It replaces automatic perceptions of situations with an actual experience of living in the moment. Mindfulness is the art of living right in the center, between past and future—it is living in the present.

Therefore, being present means being fully conscious of who you are, where you are, what you are doing, and whom you are with at that exact moment. No images of the past and no dreams of the future interrupt this awareness. There are no distractions or other places you’d rather be. Nothing else matters. Your body, mind, and heart are one.

The following excerpt from Buddhist literature is offered to illustrate being fully present—what the Buddhists call mindfulness:

A man once asked the Buddha, “What are the teachings of you and your disciples?” Buddha answered, “We sit, we walk, and we eat.”
The man replied, “But, everyone sits, walks, and eats.”
The Buddha answered, “Yes, but when we sit, we know that we are sitting. When we walk, we know that we are walking. When we eat, we know that we are eating.”

There is nothing like the experience of being present, or the experience of getting gotten! It is the primal essence of love that permeates all life. It is so powerful it takes your breath away.

This is where Resonance Repatterning® comes in. This method, developed by Chloe Faith Wordsworth, releases the resonance with any unhealed parts of yourself that would keep you from being present for yourself and others, as well as being present to being gotten.

WE ARE ONE

We are one, and yet…
How is it we do not know it?
Where is the unity?
Where is compassion?
Where is understanding, acceptance and love?
And most importantly of all, what are we without them?

We reject each other
We reject ourselves
We reject our body parts, our thoughts, our emotions
We reject who we are, but where does that get us?

We are so much more than our limitations
We are light
We are bliss
We are love and unity

Let’s let go of our destructive patterns
Let’s leave behind separation and judgement
For we are one,
And we are strong,
And we are powerful,
United

You Are Love

What is Love?

There are many types of love: love of self, love of your work, love of your parents who gave you life, love of your friends, love of your children, and love of your pets. Then there is romantic love, love of country, and love of God. Each has a different meaning and unique experience. Throughout history, many have attempted to define love. There are biological theories, cultural theories, and psychological theories about various types and styles of love. You name it and someone has written about it. I believe the word love can be used in the process of transforming many areas of your life.

The love I’m speaking about is a heart-centered love—the primal essence of love that permeates all life. It is moving from your head to your heart, surrendering your ego and moving into compassion, understanding, and a deep sense of caring. Asking yourself, “What would love do right now?” from this place, allows you to be more loving in all your interactions.

When two lovers are making love, looking into one another’s eyes and relishing the moment of bliss, they are sharing their experience together so completely that for them nothing else is happening in the entire world. They are engaging in the primal essence of love, shutting out the outer world— nothing intrudes. They are being present in the moment.

I hope you’ve had this experience. If not, maybe you’ve experienced the pure essence of love with a puppy or a newborn baby. This is unconditional love at its finest.

Now that you know the type of love I’m talking about, are you ready to experience it again, or for the very first time? It’s really a choice. However, if you have unhealed incidents from the past, it may not feel like you have a choice. This is where Resonance Repatterning® comes in. This method was developed by Chloe faith Wordsworth, and has been my saving grace since 1989. It releases the resonance with any unhealed parts of yourself that would keep you from experiencing the unconditional love of which I am speaking. You may want to consider going to the Repatterning Practitioners Association website and choosing a certified practitioner you feel guided to working with and give them a call. You’ll be amazed at the results.

You Are Love

Knowing that you ARE love can change the course of your life forever. You can never separate yourself from love—ever! Nevertheless, it may seem as though you’re separate. It is time to awaken to the love you are—to universal love, the primal essence of love that permeates all life.

Sometimes we feel like love is missing and we look to others to provide it. Actually, look no further, you have everything you need—you are love.

What would life be like if you were to wake up and love governed all of your actions and decisions? What would you do, as love? You might start your day by looking in the mirror and saying, “I love you.” Perhaps you would meditate or journal in a sacred space. As love, you could jog, walk, or tend your garden in the morning sunlight. You might take some time to go to breakfast with friends or pick up chocolate-covered donuts on the way to work. When you bring the love you are—to all areas of your life throughout your day—love is what you will experience moment by moment.

Be the Change

Change is inevitable! It is the only thing constant in life. You can either resist it, or embrace it like an adventure. It is not always easy to do, but it is necessary if you want to live an extraordinary life. One way you can embrace the changes, which are occurring in your life, is by acknowledging your part in the change.

One Friday afternoon, a woman, who hated her job and wanted out, manifested the job of her dreams after a Resonance Repatterning® session. In the session, she admitted that she really wanted a more rewarding job, but was procrastinating. We identified the unconscious pattern that was holding her back and shifted her resonance to deserving a much better, higher-paying, creative position that showcased her unique gifts and talents.

Lo and behold, when she went to work the following Monday morning, she was summoned to her boss’s office and promptly fired. She called me very irate and blamed me for her getting fired. I encouraged her to look at how powerful she was and how fast the universe provided her with verification of her new resonance. I reminded her of how she had been procrastinating about finding a better job and could now embrace and be grateful for the opportunity to create the job of her dreams. . .and so she did!

While change is inevitable, it can also be emotional, especially when your partner moves on from what you thought was a committed relationship. Rather than engaging in finding fault and placing blame, simply be willing to accept what is so about the situation. Life is too short to resist change and perceive it as “it shouldn’t be this way.” The sooner you stop judging and assessing what was good from what was bad, and who was right from who was wrong, the quicker you will be empowered and experience inner peace. By embracing change and granting yourself the grace to let your partner go, you will have more energy to move forward with ease, grounded in the fact that from what you learned in this relationship, you will be able to attract an even better partner who wants to be with you.

The quote, “Be the change you want to see in the world,” profoundly transformed the relationship I had with my father. After having four children, my mother and father divorced. He remarried and started a new family. On the rare occasions that we talked, it seemed that he just reported how things were going with him and his new family. He would tell me all the things I wished I had done with him when I was young, but since we did not live together, my siblings and I did not get to do many of those memorable activities. I found myself becoming more and more envious.

I noticed that what was missing for me in his calls was acknowledgment for who I was in his life. So, I started acknowledging him for being a great father to his other three children and how fortunate they were to get to do all the things they were doing and to have him as a dad. After just two phone calls, he started asking about me and my life and acknowledging me for being a great daughter. He also acknowledged me for the difference I was making in the lives of my clients. These were things he had never told me before.

It’s true, by being the change you want to see in the world — providing the very thing you think is missing in your relationships — you too can experience what your heart desires, just as I did. In the very giving of it, my father gave back to me genuine love and acknowledgement. It was quite remarkable.

So, be the change, embrace the change, expect the change and you too can live an extraordinary life filled with everything you desire — a life where you can hardly wait to get up and one that is overflowing with love, joy, passion, and fulfillment.

What Is It For? Key to a Purpose-Filled Life.

As a Resonance Repatterner and student of metaphysics, I discovered that to live a purpose-filled life, I have to ask consciously of anything: What is this for, what do I want to come of this?

Eventually, we will all know how difficult it is to answer questions regarding the purposefulness of life because at some pivotal point during the growing cycle of our human consciousness, we will all ask ‘what is a better way to live?’. Regardless of any difficulty, inability or unwillingness to delve deep to find answers to these questions, it remains that it is the coherent or non-coherent focus we give to any aspect of living that will determine its purpose; consciously or unconsciously.

This seems on the surface like an enormous task, self-indulgent navel gazing with no room to enjoy living, and persistently engaged in introspection. But it is more than just a daunting task. For this question of ‘what is it for?’ can move us toward satisfying our inherent yearning to express ourselves coherently from our core. Asking ‘what do I want to come of this?’ as a means to living a purpose-filled life, is not only limited to the grand perspective of what constitutes a purpose-filled existence on earth, but includes the seemingly prosaic ‘what do I want to come from saying ‘hello’ to Joe Smith on the street?’.

I recently had a ‘reading’ with a wonderfully talented psychic who looked at my impulse to come to earth ‘this time around.’ She related, through her symbolic word-pictures, that from on high, so to speak, and with a teenage angel perspective, I saw that my soon-to-be biological father, who in a larger context I already knew and loved, was very sad and confused on earth, so I jet-propelled myself into physical existence on a rescue mission. Without a ‘by your leave’ of wiser counsel, I simply made up my mind this was the right thing to do and took off, only to discover very quickly the foolhardiness of my choice.

Asking whether this story is true or not is unimportant, since the asking is merely a tactic of my mind to divert me away from what is helpful. For what is helpful is how it relates to my actions now. It symbolically demonstrates that my decision, to act from a place of love to save someone from themselves, I made up, and did so from conclusions based on faulty perceptual beliefs which I was not aware of at the time. Consequently, the great important special purpose for my living on earth was a myth. (Where was Resonance Repatterning when I was a goofy teenage angel?)

As a Resonance Repatterning® practitioner, I cannot ignore this awareness, nor the data from hundreds of session notes, that it is the myths already conceived from the viewpoint of the observer mind that determines what we choose to see and experience with our time in a world. Further, researchers who study the holographic nature of our reality agree that it is the judging of a goal’s merits at the onset, and decisions based on them, that predetermine what happens in the outcome, before an event takes place.

However, there is no wrong way to live a life since, if we view it correctly, Life is a schoolroom. There are consequences, but everyone is given liberty to make decisions for their life. An infringement on any way of living comes when we do not honor and respect an individual’s ability to choose for themselves. At times, due to lack of comprehension, we include others unnecessarily in our life cycles, and dramas. However, infringing on the personal liberty to choose for oneself is the greatest hinderance to the enjoyment and freedom of creating a meaningful existence.

One guideline for living a purpose-filled life as we ask ‘what is it for?’ I cannot overemphasize. The love within us needs an outlet. Whether we believe in the idea that we are created beyond time and space, or whether we simply embrace the idea that we are a product of a physical mother and father does not matter. For love is a very important factor motivating humanity.

We are born of lovemaking so that we may love.

Releasing love from within, and extending it into some viable and pleasurable outlet, enriches beyond an individual, regardless of whether another agrees with the format of that self-expression or not.

How can we tell if we are living a life from love in the best and most meaningful way, since we have to do something with time once we find ourselves in a world.

  • We will experience a feeling of overwhelming compassion for ourself and humankind.
  • We will feel fully appreciated, and appreciative of the efforts of others.
  • The form of our chosen self-expression of love becomes a vehicle that expresses the love in us all, and we will recognize it as such.
  • We will impinge on no one, only carry the love inherent in us forward on to others.
  • We will congratulate ourselves, not with superficial ego aggrandizement, but in a genuine flow of gratitude for expressing what extends from our heart.
  • As our love flows, we will feel it return to us and ‘thank us’ for celebrating itself though us,
  • And, it will bring peace, satisfaction and contentment.

Now, no one can decide this, express it exactly, nor determine its value for any of us, for the love in us has a goal beyond us. It rejoices in the flow of itself, unhindered and unburdened by anything unlike itself that may try to restrict it.

(Restrictions come from impinging values that we do not personally determine. Values as to the rightness or wrongness of our chosen way of living. Those subtle innuendoes and judgements often encourage self-deprecation and belittlement, creating sore spots and woundings.)

However, it is not necessary to spend as much time as one would think healing wounds before we can express love in a meaningful way. Since we will discover that the capacity to fully hear our inner call to love, whatever its expression, will weave itself into the tapestry of our life, along with all personal hurts. The wounds and hurting created by infringement on personal rights can become the jewels and the nuggets in the tapestry, if carefully transformed by the process of forgiveness.

The jewels of our transformations offset and give brilliant contrast to the ordinary and similarity between two weavings. Unhealed, they appear as rips and holes in the fabric of our life, but transformed they brighten and enhance the dullness of similarity and sameness.

It is not necessary to think that the jewels and nuggets are essential to live a life of expressed love, but they do catch attention and draw the eye to their brilliance and what is possible.

What do I personally want to come of this life as I learn to correct my impulsive teenage angel goofiness: what is it now for? For me, a purpose-filled life is to discover the essence of life itself, the nature of love, and what is true and what is false. This positive purpose is a worthwhile pursuit for me since I have already experienced it breathing life into a flailing spirit, and I know that it has the potential to resuscitate my life further into heightened states of self-awareness.

Therefore, my pursuit of a truer purpose that will obtain for me a more heartfelt connection to the Principal of Life that created me relies upon an intrepid investigation. I know that if  I have enough staying power to turn my fear of asking and looking into courage, I will be rewarded with remembering the forgotten song of my liberated spirit.

Transformation: our business and our magic

We are in the business of transformation in Resonance Repatterning. I often thank new clients for their courage in coming in to do a process that will always bring about transformation on some level. And I watch people everyday try to avoid that same transformation.

We get so attached to how things are. The way we talk to our friends or co-workers, the way we take care of ourselves or how we don’t take care of ourselves. The food we eat, the thoughts we think.

The truth is that transformation is an exciting adventure and also scary as all get out. We love to watch movies about characters who make a major transformation in 2 hours. And yet when we ask ourselves to transform a habit, it can take us years.

The truth is, we are now involved in a universal pattern of change and as the Lakota elders say, “It’s time to let go of the riverbank and surrender to the current in the river.” We may be surprised by whom we recognize out in the middle of that fast moving current.

So how are you holding on to the riverbank? What habits or attitudes are you holding onto, even when you know it would be more fun to let go. Smoking or eating sweets, sarcasm with yourself or your family, criticism of the world or others instead of taking action yourself?

The trick is that whatever we have asked for in the past is now what we are flowing towards. It may not look like what we asked for because the packaging may be different. Or we may be being directed through all the clean-up of the past before we can get to the outcome. But be assured, it is some form of what you asked for weeks or months or years ago.
When you say you want a different job and then you lose the job you have, know that you were a part of creating that. When you say you want a relationship in your life that has meaning to you, and you come across a person who all of a sudden wants to be more involved in your life, know it’s part of the outcome you wanted.

The truth is that transformation is hard work when we are fighting to control it. It can be a huge adventure when we welcome it.  What would happen if you opened your arms to your life each day, knowing that it was bringing you something you had asked for in the past. Kind of like Christmas everyday. Our Reptilian brains say, “but what if I can’t handle it?, what if I feel out of control? what if others I care about won’t be there for me, if I change something?” These are all valid questions and yet they are part of change for all of us.

The best thing we can do is reassure that survivor, the Reptilian part of ourselves, trusting that we can handle anything we have asked for. Because the truth is, if we can imagine it, we are ready for it.

Transformation is the magic of life. It’s the alchemy of healing and feeling whole. It’s the ability to jump onto the trapeze of life and trust that life will be there to catch us and if not, the net is always below. And to know that if we fall into the net, we meet someone interesting in the fall.

As I grow older, I find that the only regrets I have are the things I didn’t give myself permission to try. And the best stories that I most value are the stories of times when I felt I had botched things the most. Don’t get me wrong, I am a Leo personality, with 7 planets in Leo. My ego and need to do things right is huge and yet taking a risk and showing up less than perfect are when I have bonded and loved more deeply than at any other time.

So I invite you into this elegant and messy time of transformation. As you look at the world, see all the possibilities of this chaos and conflict you can. People are being forced to look within themselves and find new ways of doing and being. And some of those ideas are miracles. What kind of miracles do you want to invite into your life? And how much of a limit do you want to put on that? And when you feel overwhelmed by it all, remember there are all kinds of processes that help to keep you aligned and clear about what you want. Resonance Repatterning certainly does that for me and I watch it help my clients everyday with just that. It provides the clarity and the energetic housecleaning that we all need in order to find the way to our extraordinary and miraculous outcomes.

Love yourself enough to let go of the riverbank and join us in the current of this fast moving river. It’s already flowing in the direction you asked for, just do what you need to do to relax and enjoy the ride. And if you feel like you are going under a bit, there are a lot of us out there to support you and each other.

Welcome to the ride of your life!!

Bobbie Martin
