Divine Connection Through Our Hearts

Divine Connection Through Our Hearts

by Meryl Chodosh-Weiss

Do you find it difficult to establish flow, experience joy and creativity in your life and relationships?

When we find ourselves disconnected from the essence of our Divine nature, our hearts become closed and we are unable to experience bliss in every moment of our lives.

Most importantly, when we feel separated from our innate Divine connection, we often experience life as dry, isolated, lonely, meaningless and frustrating.

We focus on our breathing, our mantra, whatever we can to silence the continual stream of distracting thoughts and negative feelings that keep us from experiencing peaceful meditations and harmony in our lives.

What if the basis of enlightenment, accessing all the riches of the universe, peace, harmony and flow stems not from our minds and somewhere outside of us, but somewhere else?

Buddha said “The way is not in the sky. The way is in the heart”.

Recent research by the The Institute of HeartMath (IHM) Research Center and technological advances in how the human mind-body system is able to be studied reveals that the heart emits the strongest electromagnetic field in our body. This electromagnetic field is five thousand times stronger than the brain’s electromagnetic field; it envelops the entire body and extends out in all directions up to several feet outside of the body. Research shows that as we consciously focus on feeling a positive emotion it has a beneficial effect not only on our own health and well-being, but it also can have a positive effect on those around us.

Our hearts are the very first organ we develop in the womb. When we call our attention to the “heart of the matter” we are focusing on the essence, in fact, our essence.

The “shift of the ages,” the shift in consciousness that we are now experiencing, is a movement from duality into oneness. It invites us to live from the oneness, connectedness of all creation in our hearts.

There is a personal power in us that is only available when we move from the duality of our brains (the two hemispheres) into the unity of our hearts, our cores.

The scheduled repatterning during the World Repatterning Summit will shine light on whatever we are ready to clear from our mind-body systems so that we can move into living from our hearts and connecting there with the Divine within us all.

The Great Modality Exchange

What’s a modality and why do I want more?

A MODALITY is any healing action or energy based activity that creates greater coherence, well-being and balance in our physical, emotional and mental bodies.  A modality is used to “in-put” energy into the body-mind system and can include sound, color and light, breath, movement, energetic contacts and processes specifically designed to create balance in our bodies, minds and emotions.

In the system of Resonance Repatterning practitioners know how important modalities are for our clients; it’s the moment they actively take ownership for creating their own wellbeing.  We’ve held a safe space, we’ve guided them, we’ve heard them, acknowledged their pain, their hopes their joys.  And now the ideal modality is identified and our client is empowered to create the positive movement, the shift, the healing that they came to us for.  They gave us their trust and we give them the space and then the power to heal.

Tamara De Ghellinck, a Brain Gym practitioner shared the following modality with me.  If you like this, post a new modality you’ve learned in the comments field below and let the exchange begin.

Integration Metaphor Modality

The object of this modality is to bring balance to the left and right hemispheres of the brain physically, emotionally and most important, mentally.

  • Ask your client to place one hand on either side of their head and pop out each hemisphere of their brain.  Ask them to make a little “pop” sound when they’re lifting out the hemispheres.
  • Ask your client to let their arms fall to their sides with their hands wide apart. Invite them to close their eyes and listen to their brain hemispheres.
  • Invite your client to sense what is going on…what are they feeling, how is the left hemisphere and how is the right hemisphere? Allow them to observe and acknowledge any feelings, sensations, thoughts, and colors.  Ask them to welcome any information and sensations free of judgment or resistance.
  • Ask your client if they’d like to say something to one or both of the hemisphere’s about any conflict their experiencing over the problem or goal.  Example: ”Right hemisphere I feel you’re tired, that’s ok, please allow more energy to flow so you and the left hemisphere can work together as a team to reach my goal of…”
  • Next invite your client to turn the palms of each hand towards one another and see if both hemispheres are attracted to each other. During this process the person can still acknowledge, welcome and ask for changes for one or both hemispheres.
  • When the hands come together ask them to finish with the palms together and fingers intertwined.
  • Encourage them to say anything else to their brain.  Have them say “thank you” to both hemispheres.
  • When the client is ready invite them to put both brain hemispheres back into place making a little “click” sound as the hemispheres return to their places.
  • Allow them time to breathe and integrate their whole and balanced brain.

Some Thoughts About Repatterning Sessions Done As Distance Healing

By Meryl Chodosh-Weiss, L.C.S.W

Proxy sessions are distance healing sessions done solely by a practitioner on behalf of a client who has given permission for the session to occur.

When I first embraced Resonance Repatterning® as a student, I was working full-time as a psychotherapist for children who required counseling as part of their mandated individualized educational program in a public school.

Because I was spending so much time with so many people each work day, when I first began practicing I enjoyed doing proxy sessions the most.

Additionally, I had received a proxy session as my first session and experienced the positive and immediate impact of that session. Despite my not knowing when the session was to occur, I felt an immediate change in my energy and emotional state. I correctly surmised that the session had been completed.

I told myself that this process was for me!

I was so enthused about proxy sessions that at the very first, ever, Resonance Repatterning  Conference in 1996 I was on a panel to discuss this aspect of the work.

With the change in the Certification requirements that now permits proxy sessions to be a part of the mix,  one of the student practitioners in the NY Practitioners Skills Development Group last month asked me to give more information about doing proxy sessions.

There are several ways  to initiate a proxy session. Of utmost importance is getting permission from the person (or animal). Even when working with infants and animals, the parent or owner needs to ask  out loud if permission to engage in a session is granted. Pet owners and parents will usually be able to  see if permission is granted or not by the kind of response, or lack of response that is elicited.

Once  when I worked with a newborn in the presence of the mother, I saw the baby gave  definite indication that I was allowed to proceed with the session.

Proxy sessions are done without face-to-face, telephone or Skype interaction during the session. The practitioner may or may not have information about  the client’s presenting problem or  intentions. There my be no knowledge at all about why the session has been ordered or the practitioner may have this information.

If an animal or a non-verbal infant/child is the recipient, you may be given information from the parent or owner about the pet of child, but that information is not from the perspective of the child or animal. You may or may not, as determined by muscle checking for the client, use that information at all.

What is happening in a proxy session is based on the energetic reality of us all being one. With permission we are accessing the person or animal’s energy field and spiritually, their higher self, even though their physical presence is not involved.

There are no interferences,  and what you can access is the raw potency and strength of the client’s uncensored responses to their world. There is no person-to-person presence to filter anything.

This requires that the practitioner stays super centered and takes care of themselves so they can remain neutral and in complete service to their client.

The stance must be accepting , allowing and non-judgmental about anything that is derived from the books or from muscle-checked intuitive material. Nowhere is it more clear that you are the agent for the client and therefore you can not censor at all what comes out in the session.

What is in the experience of most student practitioners that is analogous is how the practitioner holds the space for the client during an Energy Constriction Release. In this process, the practitioner must sometime work on maintaining their own centeredness and their own lack of judgement. The practitioner must  postpone dealing with their own material which might be triggered by the client’s experience.

All of these considerations may be present when working in a proxy session.

The Practice and Refinement of Resonance Repatterning

I have been teaching Resonance Repatterning since 1995 and have been privileged to teach some amazing practitioners. I recently interviewed two of them. (Ardis Ozborn, Resonance Repatterning teacher)

Interview with Julie Steve, certified practitioner since 2010

How did you first learn about Resonance Repatterning?
A friend introduced me to a practitioner who did body scans. The scan validated the stress in my body as we explored the emotions held in the organs, and a light bulb went off in terms of my childhood traumas. She suggested a Resonance Repatterning session to identify negative thought patterns and beliefs that I was still resonating with. I began the session from a negative space and at the end I felt like wonder woman! I was ready to tackle the world. I felt so completely different each time I received a session that I decided to learn how to do this myself.

What have you enjoyed most about learning Resonance Repatterning?
I can help  become more grounded, positive and focused. When I have a problem or issue I realize it’s a pattern I can shift. I get excited about helping other people make such a transition in their sessions. When those I love have issues I can offer them a session, too.

What kind of practice have you created?
I work a lot with young women and children. I think that has a lot to do with my personal history. I relate to their experiences and feel compassion for what they are going through. Since I have dealt with many of the same issues, I can meet them where they are. I love children. Because of all my repatternings, I am more in touch with my little girl. Children know when you are being real with them. My clients help me as I help them–especially when patterns come up that I have worked on myself. It gives me a great appreciation for their process.

You are a Jehovah’s Witness and devout in your practice. Has there been any conflict for you in studying and practicing Resonance Repatterning?
No. I researched Resonance Repatterning carefully before I began my studies. No religious teaching is brought into the trainings. It is based on science, energy medicine, and psychological principles. I appreciate that very much.

You have retaken the classes many times. What has that given you?
In my Kingdom Hall we read the entire Bible through every year. Each time it deepens my faith. It’s like that when I retake the courses. Each time it builds on my depth of understanding and appreciation for it’s complexity.

Who would you recommend these seminars to?
Anyone who takes responsibility for working on one’s self could benefit. I always struggled in school and was afraid it would be like that again. I was pleasantly surprised that they were fun and easy for me. I was learning without realizing that I was learning. At the end of the day, I was amazed at the amount of energy I had. I felt so alive and absorbed so much. When I came home my energy had shifted, and those around me shifted, too. That was a bonus!

Interview with Bobbie Martin, certified practitioner and teacher from Kansas City, Missouri:

How long have you been practicing?
I started in 1997. I had a session that I enjoyed and then agreed to organize a series in Kansas City, where I took the training. I backed into it totally. I was open to new ideas. With the many things I have learned and practiced in  the past, I get what I need and move on. I have been doing this for 15 years now and I am still stimulated. There is always more to learn and grow with. It is very respectful to the client–efficient and respectful of their own timing as well. We can both relax and know that things will only come up when you are ready for them.

What was your healing background?
I was already a professional psychic with a full practice. Learning Resonance Repatterning was fun and easier than doing psychic work. It felt like play to me,  not work. I started using it with my existing clients, and it helped me reaffirm that this was led by the client not me “on the pedestal” with all the answers. I empowered my clients, and the process itself kept me intrigued. There was always something new in the sessions that I was stimulated by. With some clients I combined a little psychic work with a repatterning to go deeper when their system was ready to talk to us.

What is your Resonance Repatterning specialty?
What I do well is connect the dots for people. This is my gift. I always did this with my psychic readings. I would get  impressions, and gradually it was a kaleidoscope of pictures that led to the “aha” moments. I do this with Resonance Repatterning–I don’t consciously bring me into it. This is not psychic work. I had to make a conscious choice to make peace with that. I don’t do anything in a session, including giving my input, unless I muscle check that it is appropriate. It can sometimes be a distraction from the session. I keep my focus on honoring their system.

What have you learned along the way?
In a session I am not always sure why things are coming up, but I know it will make sense as we go through it. People value this. I have the ability to bring whole pictures together. At the end of the session they see why things came up, and it all fits. At the start of the session, I ask the client what is going on with them. I take notes and have become a very good scribe! I have learned to value their wording, even an off-hand remark. I muscle check to see if it should be included. Their words have the vibration. If I use their words, I am a good mirror for them, and they are shocked and amazed that the answers they are looking for are the words they just spoke!

This is a PhD in energy medicine. The work is so deep and life changing. When business clients come for help they soon realize that it is their energy driving their business. If it is off, what is going on with them? It’s the same for me. If my appointment base goes off, it’s not the economy.  This is my barometer. It is within me. I use Resonance Repatterning to coach business people and myself.  It’s all about energy. Once you clean up the internal issues the business or practice gets back on track.

“Loving Order Shines Amidst the Chaos” from the NUN KARMA REPATTERNING

What would it be like to watch a massive tsunami push away everything you’ve known and loved—your home, neighborhood, car, even friends and family members who will never return? Where do you find the courage to start over when you have nothing left?

Sometimes art and poetry show the way.

When I went to the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival this spring, I came away feeling overwhelmed by powerful stories of school bullying, opioid addiction in the military, environmental threats, how to start a revolution, and other topics that a young generation of filmmakers did not hesitate to present with brilliant, in-your-face clarity.

By the time The Tsunami and The Cherry Blossom was screened, I was barely able to absorb its sounds and colors. But out of the chaos of all those images, this movie has stayed with me like a quiet beacon.

The documentary by filmmaker Lucy Walker is described as “a stunning visual poem about the ephemeral nature of life and the healing power of Japan’s most beloved flower,” the cherry blossom.

It seems that, just when life seemed most desperate for the survivors in northern Japan, cherry blossom season began. All over the hardest hit areas, pink and white blossoms appeared to create whole and perfect webs of hope. Their stunning beauty helped survivors revive and rebuild their lives.

Isn’t this how coherence helps us thrive through chaos?

When I lived through the 1994 Category 5 hurricane and tornadoes in St. Thomas, the day after was like walking across some kind of tragic alien landscape. So many buildings destroyed; even steel girders twisted and tossed about. Trees lay akimbo.

All the lush tropical foliage had been stripped from its hold on trees and bushes, and whipped into a fetid green slime that coated everything.

But what I remember most is how quickly and insistently nature began to restore itself. Fresh sprouts of green and flowering buds poked up within weeks, even days, creating their own kind of visual poetry.

I remember how those signs of an inherently coherent Nature, even after the storm’s chaos, lifted my heart and gave me hope.

Book Review: Fractal Time – The Secret of 2012 and a New World Age, by Gregg Braden

Reviewed by Nancy Martin

“This book is dedicated to our discovery of time as the language of our past, the map to our future, and the world to come.” December 21, 2012, the winter solstice, is identified by the Mayan calendar as the end of a world age, the cycle that began this 5th world age in 3114 B.C. (1,800 years before the time of Moses and the biblical exodus), which is approximately 5,125 years ago. Comparisons of world-age references include traditions of the Hopi, Ancient India  (the Vedas first written in 1500 B.C.), Aztec and Maya. Oral transmission of the stories probably went back thousands of years before the literature.

Four generations experienced the end of a world-age and survived changes in global magnetic fields and climate, diminishing resources and rising sea levels, for the end of one world age is the beginning of the next. Completing the cycle is necessary before the next can start, which means experiencing the greatest distance in our orbit from the core of our home galaxy, the Milky Way.

Emotional/spiritual effects are evident, as well as the physical changes, in the sense of a loss of connection–separate and lost. The farther we go from the source of such powerful energy the deeper we go in darkness, leading our ancestors to chaos, war, greed and destruction. The dominant theme in that period of greatest darkness at the end of a world age is discord, contention and quarrel. In spite of the fears of such negative outcomes, our ancestors also had an awareness of abundant peace, love, healing, and compassion at the same time.

Now technology and understanding the need affords us new choices, the realm of all possibilities where we can shape our future. Earth and our solar system move into alignment, passing an imaginary line that defines the top of our galaxy and the bottom as the equator defines the Northern hemisphere and the Southern hemisphere, with the mysterious source of energy at the heart of the Milky Way. The winter solstice 2012 is the center of the transition zone, beginning well before and after 12/21, involving possibly years on each side. This alignment was predicted by the Mayans to repeat in another 26,000 years and represents moving through the 12 familiar zodiac signs/constellations, forming a circle of 360˚.

We need to update our time concepts. The ancient traditions saw time as an ongoing dance of cycles, waves of energy pulsing across the universe, incorporating repeats of patterns over a wide scope of dimensions—fractals–that carry the conditions of the past, but with greater intensity, into our future. Albert Einstein introduced us to the unity of time and space, which he called space-time, and that events of everyday life on all levels–peace, war, the cosmos, the economy, personal relationships and civilizations–happen within it. The fractal interplay between planets, galaxies and our personal lives relates to the ancient axiom, “As above, so below.”

Cycles abound in nature and vary in magnitude—from the smallest pattern of subatomic particles to galaxies–in increasing nests of cycles. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Our life is an apprenticeship to the truth that around every circle another can be drawn; that there is no end in nature, but every end is a beginning.”

What happens within cycles is seen as a place in the cycle, a seed event. It’s the repeat of conditions that make a particular outcome possible, depending on the choices we make in life. Knowing where we are in the cycle, we know what to expect when it repeats.

This relates not only to cosmological changes but also to worldwide conflicts and the personal events in one’s life. Braden has developed a Time Code Calculator that shows us what to expect in all of the above. Through current technology we can anticipate the cyclical changes and a choice point that allows us to select a new outcome for the returning pattern of conditions. The key is understanding Phi/phi, described as 1.618/ .618, the golden ratio, which is repeated in infinity in nature and often in architecture. Fibonacci discovered during the early 14th century the sequence of  numbers that create the golden ratio, namely adding the last two numbers that expand a spiral or dividing the number that immediately precedes it. Spirals seem to be the pattern for much of the universe.

Beauty in our world is represented by this ratio—proportions of the human body, the pattern of seeds in a sunflower, the structure of elegant Grecian temples, arms of the Milky Way galaxy. It also applies to brain states of consciousness and proportions of DNA.

Not only cycles of growth and proportion are evident in the golden ratio but also in the timing and separation of occurrences in a person’s life. The only way we relate to time is through our experiences of events within it. Time and events can’t be separated. Now we have moved beyond classical Newtonian physics to quantum physics where we conceptualize zones of energy described as probabilities.

The Hopi language is the same for describing what is and what has happened. For them “is” refers to a quantum possibility that became manifest. Einstein said, “This past, present and future is only an illusion.” However, the “problem of time” is approached through  the theory that space-time has the form of a wave., something that moves in a special way and follows a special path—that of a spiral with the effect called a torsion field. These spirals of space-time are key to nature’s code.

Now the convergence of so many cycles  present an optimum time to commence new patterns of growth. In our personal lives this is an opportunity to release beliefs that have caused pain emotionally and physically and to embrace new life-affirming beliefs in their place. Opt for cooperation instead of competition for our world. “A change in the way we feel about ourselves and our world has the potential to affect the world itself.” Through the silent language of the heart we can harmonize our bodies with the life-sustaining fields of the earth; achieving global coherence can affect the quality of the common field that connects us. Conditions may repeat but the events don’t have to. We have a choice!

How One Psychotherapist Utilizes Resonance Repatterning With Clients In A Private Practice

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I am a fully qualified mental health practitioner with the immense good fortune to live my professional life assisting others in their efforts to become their most expanded selves.

On a day to day basis I witness subtle and not so subtle evidence of change in my clients as they relax into new awareness.

I notice the changes in how they are holding themselves in their bodies, in the freed –up expressiveness of their faces, in the very color of their skin tone and circulation as they embrace new coherence in their body-mind systems.

I am blessed to have the right tools at the right time to facilitate the changes. The most comprehensive tool in my toolbox is all that Resonance Repatterning has to offer.

Our colleague Dr. Shirley Lanyi wrote an article in the August, 2010 RPA Journal Thoughts On The Resonance Repatterning Practitioner-Client Process which focuses on the healing relationship. She explores the connection and necessary conditions for an effective therapeutic alliance.

She states

“In conclusion,…. We are part of our clients’ process. Our ability to act with loving kindness, on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual planes, via our responses and reactions, conscious and unconscious, facilitates our clients’ process, healing and growth, as well as our own.”

This will always be the most important aspect of any practitioners work. What we do is secondary to how it is done, who we are, and what we bring to the therapeutic partnership.

That being said, I’d like to share some applications of Resonance Repatterning in a psychotherapeutic practice.

Naturally, one application is to use the whole process intact with some clients. This allows a practitioner, via muscle checking for what is needed, to access what the specific client needs from the full resources of the system.

We could fill volumes of successful interventions in this category!

Most interesting is the fact that many strategies would be impossible without Resonance Repatterning. For example, one of my clients adopted a newborn child several years ago. With the adoptive mother muscle checking by proxy for the infant, and with a visible sign of permission from the infant when asked out loud, we proceeded to do a series of in person repatternings to deal head on with the infant’s separation from the birth mother.

As the child grew older, repatternings were done to handle other life issues and the child would ask for a session when he felt it was something that he needed.

Clearly even a non- traditional psychotherapy practice would not have been able to embrace this kind of preventative work.

While working with psychotherapy clients several aspects of the Resonance Repatterning system are utilized routinely.

In establishing the framework of the therapeutic alliance verbally and non-verbally there is emphasis on the fact that the person intrinsically has the keys to attain their own sense of well being and wholeness. My job is to assist them in accessing their own wisdom. Although I can provide a safe container for exploration and I can participate as a team member towards the achievement of their goals, I can neither do the work for them nor can I dictate what needs to be done.

Again, this view of a therapeutic partnership is key to the foundation in the Resonance Repatterning client-practitioner endeavor.

Even before introducing the concept of muscle checking with a psychotherapy client, throughout sessions there is the routine use of pauses, nose breathing and simple grounding modalities. As sessions continue, muscle checking for the client’s needs can be incorporated into the psychotherapy session.

With this essential tool accessed, stress reduction and counter-anxiety modalities can be taught to the client according to exactly what that person’s system dictates. Additionally, a session can not only begin with the social work cardinal rule of starting where the client is, but the verbal explorations in a session can be viewed with the perspectives of Problems and Opportunities.

Once we begin using the context of Problems and Opportunities for discussion, statements are written and can be energetically cleared with a modality, if appropriate, so that the psychotherapy session often incorporates profound energetic shifts of material brought to the discussion.

The result is that clients frequently leave their psychotherapy session feeling empowered, ready to integrate changes made and eager to uncover more material in their next session. This is in contrast to the situation that frequently occurs in psychotherapy when the client finally gets to the real “meat” and primary issue of a session just before they need to walk out the door.

These “doorknob revelations” leave the client feeling frustrated and thwarted, like they are on the edge of discovering something great that may be easily lost in transit.

Although toleration of frustration and respect for the boundaries that time limitations impose may be important elements in developing the emotional resiliency necessary for wholeness, when this is added frequently to the mix of the psychotherapy client’s experience of raw vulnerability it may destroy the motivation to continue the process.

As with all things in life, balance is essential. Using muscle checking to determine what is best as dictated by a person’s higher self is a way to grow optimal well-being not only for the Resonance Repatterning client, but for the psychotherapy client as well.

Practitioner Interview – Elizabeth Polito

Beth Polito, Certified Resonance Repatterning Practitioner

Certified Resonance Repatterning Practitioner, New York City, NY

Interviewed by Nancy Martin, Certified Practitioner, Providence, RI

Congratulations on your certification, Beth! We welcome this opportunity to introduce you to your colleagues.

Please tell us about yourself—what you do for a living and what is your background?

My name is Elizabeth Polito and I became a Certified Practitioner of Resonance Repatterning® in April of 2010.  I am a former Broadway Performer, and have been singing, dancing, and acting since the age of 6.  I hold a BA in Theatre and Dance from the University of Buffalo.  I am currently working as a healing practitioner and Yoga Instructor.  In addition to offering Resonance Repatterning, I am a Teaching Assistant with The Reconnection, a new form of healing that accesses a very broad frequency of energy, light and information.  I travel with the team helping to teach seminars worldwide.  I am also one of only 6 Certified Reconnective Yoga instructors in the world, and am very involved in bringing this new type of Yoga, which combines these healing frequencies with a Yoga practice,  forward and out into the world.  You can learn more info about this work at www.TheReconnection.com.

How did you learn about Resonance Repatterning ?

I learned about Resonance Repatterning in 2007 when a friend/teacher mentioned the work to me.  I was on Broadway at the time, and was working as a Life Coach teaching Higher Awareness to clients.  I became intrigued, and felt like it was something I might like to study.  All of the pieces began falling into place–I was thrilled to learn that Meryl Chodosh-Weiss was teaching the work right here in NYC, where I currently live, and I applied and was granted a scholarship from Career Transitions for Dancers to fund part of my training.  I began taking the seminars, and I fell in love with Repatterning.  I became a regular member of Meryl’s Monthly Practitioner Support Group, and I was able to easily transition my Higher Awareness Coaching clients into Repatterning Clients.  The shifts they experienced were huge!  Through the support of Meryl and our NYC group, I was able to follow the path toward Certification, fine tune my skills, ask lots of questions, observe fellow practitioners, and practice, practice, practice!  I am so proud and grateful to be a member of that extraordinary group of NYC-based practitioners.  It makes all the difference to have a support network, especially when you are starting out.

What does Resonance Repatterning mean to you?

I am very proud of my Repatterning work with a not-for-profit called Further Shore, based out of Flagstaff, AZ ( www.furthershore.org).  I am part of a team of pracitioners offering pre-hospice healing support and education for terminal patients or those facing end-of-life concerns.  We support the mission of living well and dying with dignity.  I have had the great honor of doing sessions with terminally diagnosed clients and been the witness to shifts that have transformed them to new places of forgiveness, freedom, and peace before they leave their bodies.  And I do all of my sessions with them on the phone!  One particular client was able to truly forgive and release a grievance he had been carrying toward his brother for over 20 years!  He was able to be in a space of peace and love as he transitioned.  It was so beautiful.

I am also proud to have incorporated my love of Repatterning with my love for the Moon.  Last May I started a Lunar Repatterning Proxy Group.  I do 4 proxy sessions each month that coincide with the New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon, and Last Quarter.  The group is ongoing, and consists of healers, artists, mothers, film-makers, dancers, teachers, yogis, lawyers, and lightworkers.  It has been an amazing experience, and I have gotten wonderful feedback from the members.  The shifts are truly palpable, and I am always amazed at the depth of the sessions.  Many Repatterning Practitioners are members of the Lunar Group, and I would be honored to have more of our RPA members check it out.  My website is www.performingonpurpose.com.

What are some examples of a session that stand out in your life?

One of the most powerful sessions that comes to mind is one I received this past January.  I was in the middle of grieving a death, had left my 10-year relationship, and had moved homes all within 6 months.  My life was completely in transition, and I was non-coherent.  I had not eaten in five days, could not stop crying, couldn’t sleep, and was just beside myself.  Meryl Chodosh-Weiss did a session with me, and by the end of the session I immediately knew that it had a positive effect because I actually began to feel hungry!  I can’t even remember what Repatterning came up, but the session literally moved me through a dark time and allowed me to move forward.  I ate a meal that day, and actually became more emotionally calm.  I also was able to sleep uninterrupted for the first time in weeks.  That repatterning session was a turning point for me.  It shifted me out of being “stuck” in my grief and allowed me to move forward toward my future.

What would you like to see RPA do for its newest members?

One thing I would love the RPA to do is to help us get the word out about things we are doing.  I would love to be able to reach members to share events or activities that I am hosting or teaching.  For example, I am teaching a Reconnective Yoga class in NYC, and I would love to share that with any locals who are interested.  I also host a game called Ilumination, The Quest, which is a powerful tool of transformation based on the wisdom of The Tarot.  I would love to be able to let people know what I am doing.

What five words would describe you?

Passionate, loving, spunky, sensitive, powerful

Do you have a motto?

A motto?  Hmm…Speak your truth fully, gently, and lovingly.  If someone has a problem with what you have expressed, that is THEIR stuff!

My Abundance Journey

Sometime in the early 1990’s my friend Gladys Murphy recommended a book to me: The Prospering Power of Love, by Catherine Ponder.  Reading this beautiful little book is where my Abundance Journey began.  At that time prosperity or abundance “consciousness” was so far outside the way I perceived the world that when it was first explained to me I’m sure I rolled my eyes and said “yeah right!”  I’d never uttered an affirmation, never believed that I could ask and not only be “listened to” but answered.  Occasionally I felt quite alone and bereft.  I believed that the Divine or Source was separate from me.  Separate from me just as I was separate from all others.  The paradigm of a holographic universe was beyond me; my view was that we were all of us, alone, isolated, and that our little blue and green planet was simply a rock floating in the middle of the sky.  Before I began my journey I believed that Divine Source couldn’t possibly be right there for me and with me, couldn’t possibly supply abundance, plentitude, or “an overflowing fullness of many blessings.”  And belief, as we know is a powerful thing.

My journey continued.  What I believed to be true evolved and abundance slowly crept into my world.  I spent the rest of the 1990’s “working the problem” of feeling deserving, of wrapping my head around the idea that there’s limitless supply and my “having” doesn’t mean someone else “has not.”   Each year I made more money than I had the year before, which certainly felt good, but still there was an underlying tension because deep down I believed that it could all so easily fall away.  As often as I said affirmations and manifested a higher salary, a nicer apartment, and a car I couldn’t stop to be grateful or even pleased about these gifts showing up in my life.  I didn’t know about the “Integration Process for Completions” and I simply continued to speed forward afraid that if I stopped I’d crash, I’d sink into despair, I’d loose my forward momentum and all would be lost.

In May of 1999 a giant step on my journey occurred when I dragged Gladys and another friend to a free demonstration of something called Holographic Repatterning®.  The wonderful Kenya de Rosa hosted the evening and for Gladys and me it was a life changer.  Gladys immediately began taking classes in “Holographic Repatterning,” and both of us joined a weekly group repatterning series that Kenya offered.  For three and a half years Kenya hosted this group for creative artists working to clear away the blockages that kept each of us from achieving all that we desired for our creative selves and lives.  There were lots of different non-coherent beliefs, earlier experiences and issues blocking our ways, but one theme that rose up for us again and again was a lack of abundance–of time, of confidence, and certainly of money.

After a couple of years of showing up weekly and seeing “what was up” for the group that week, Kenya arrived one Monday evening with a book called The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity by–you guessed it–Catherine Ponder.  It had been perhaps ten years since I’d read The Prospering Power of Love, and though I’d bought other books of Catherine’s such as The Dynamic Laws of Healing I hadn’t gotten this, her first book on prosperity.  Kenya suggested that we might want to work on prosperity and abundance exclusively for a while and we all agreed to get the book and go through it week by week.

The Repatterning practitioners reading this article, who’ve had the training and have the tools, all probably make sure that they resonate with any intention or affirmation that comes to them and hopefully enjoy the abundant blessings that Divine Source so happily supplies.  At the time Kenya’s group started on The Dynamic Laws, being able to literally shift myself ON so I was resonating with an affirmation was a revelation for me.  Having been in Kenya’s group I’d become pretty familiar with not only the idea of “resonating” with something, but how that actually felt in my system.  I could look back on things I’d thought, said or done and know when I was resonating with it and when I was suffering from that push-me-pull-you tension of wanting something with part of me while another less visible part was pulling hard against it.

We’ve heard it said and probably say it ourselves: intention is everything.  According to Dictionary.com – “intention” is defined as: “an act or instance of determining mentally upon some action or result.”  Okay, but what about our mental state when we’re doing the determining?  Only when my system has been shifted ON for a particular affirmation can I feel that I’m physically and mentally pulsing with power and joy while “affirming” it.  This feeling of power and joy is quite different from the feeling of desperation I’d sometimes experienced in the past as I’d endlessly repeated “Divine Love and Divine Wisdom prosper me NOW.”

I originally moved to New York City to study acting and to make my living as an actress.  There are lots and lots of different classes available here designed to help actors find their fire, loosen up their instruments, learn a particular method, become “camera ready” and to radiate “star” quality.  While I was stuck in my earlier beliefs of lack and scarcity, I could never bring myself to spend much money on classes.  I could manage to hand over a weekly rate to a teacher, class by class, but the idea of plunking down hundreds for a seminar or series just froze me.  By the time I’d received some 130 to 150 sessions in Kenya’s group, I felt safe enough to let money flow out and safe enough to trust that it would flow back in.  Interestingly, by this point in my journey, when I was finally able to have a little trust that the abundant universe would supply me with what I needed, I didn’t choose to sign up for an acting seminar; I chose to study Resonance Repatterning® instead.

I signed up to take Fundamentals of Holographic Repatterning in the summer of 2002.  I was nervous but also excited about having Holographic Repatterning as tool and knowing how to use it.  I was delighted that I would soon be able to identify and shift myself ON for new intentions, but also be able to find those problematic beliefs that were keeping some of the icky stuff stuck.   Knowing that I would soon be able to identify this “stuff” and then use a modality to create a shift so I’d be ON for the good–and OFF for the icky stuff–was fantastic.  By the autumn of 2002 I’d taken Fundamentals, Primary Patterns and Transforming Unconscious Patterns.  All the work I was able to now do for myself, as well as the sessions I’d received in the past, helped me get to the point in my journey where I was able to pause and acknowledge when good “stuff” seemed to simply show up in my life.  I was now able to understand physically, emotionally, mentally and in spirit that this is the “overflowing fullness of many blessings” that is the result my being ON for abundance. (Editor’s note:  Holographic Repatterning officially became Resonance Repatterning in May 2006)

I was able to take the basic seminars as well as some of the advanced classes in the next couple of years.  I also had the great good fortune to be in New York City, where the generous and gifted Meryl Chodosh-Weiss teaches Resonance Repatterning, hosts a monthly skills development group, is a designated observer and can certify practitioners.  When the RPA devised the “I Declare” program with the intention of re-categorizing practitioners as “Student,” “Student I Declare,” or “Certified” instead of Level One and Level Two (certified) practitioners, Meryl galvanized our monthly group into action.  Many of us “declared” and set our sights on achieving our certification by the proposed June 2007 deadline.  All of you who are certified practitioners or active “I Declare” students know it takes time and effort to complete the certification process.  It takes people showing up and being willing to work with you and receive sessions so you can get your practice in and master this system.  It takes patience with yourself and a belief that you can do this and are meant to do it.  It takes a sincere belief that the universe will rise up to meet and support you, it takes a belief in abundance; there will be time enough, clients enough, money enough, and determination enough to achieve your goal.  And you better believe we, as group and individually, repatterned and repatterned and repatterned ourselves so we were ON for these abundant beliefs.

I achieved my goal of becoming a certified practitioner of Resonance Repatterning in June of 2007 along with my dear friend and fellow traveler Gladys, but this was certainly not the end of any of my journeys, abundance or otherwise.  From the time I began in Kenya’s group, through my training and certification process I was making my living as an Executive Assistant working in the Financial Services sector here in New York City.  Sometimes I was working for giant companies like Goldman Sachs and others for tiny boutique Investment Banking firms.  I was surrounded by many examples of wealth, both personal and corporate.  I was also surrounded by many individuals who seemed to feel they must continue to speed forward, afraid that if they stopped they’d crash, sink into despair, loose their forward momentum and all would be lost.  On the days when I was most coherent, it was interesting to realize that people making anywhere from three to one hundred times my salary felt less abundant than me.

In 2008 when the economy took its tumble, I joined the millions of unemployed and was granted an opportunity to seize the day, shift my focus and see if I could create a private practice for myself as a practitioner of Resonance Repatterning, along with several other energy modalities I’d begun to study.  I was excited, terrified and a little nauseous when I recalled that, in 2005 during my interview for the job I’d just lost, I’d boldly told my prospective manager that my five-year plan was to have my own private practice as an energy healer by 2010.  As I realized I’d stated this crazy intention out loud, thoughts like “Golly Moses! is that dang universe always listening?” and “This is another fine mess you’ve gotten us into Ollie!” chased their way through my head.

Well, now what?  The abundant universe had just supplied me with the one commodity I’d always found in the shortest supply–TIME.  That may be the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me.  Despite the fact that I’d achieved coherence in many areas of my life, I was still holding onto this bizarre belief that I was like some species of shark–if I stopped swimming I’d die.  And what I most needed to do was take a really big pause, get very very quiet and let myself live in the present moment.  It took me a number of months to work through my relationship with and beliefs about time.  Once I’d made some peace in this area, I was able to be more awake in the present in the moment.  Being more awake in the present moment allowed me to see how Divine Order was playing itself out in my life.  After that, I was able to turn my attention to the task at hand, which I saw as “can I create a private practice for myself and live my life in prosperity, peace and safety?”  Once more the abundant hands of the universe provided me with some amazing assistance.

Just prior to my official termination date from my job, I was put in contact with my wonderful Life Coach Deborah Todd.  Deborah lives in Illinois and is friends with one of my dad’s best friends.  So I found my perfect Life Coach because my father, the plumber, is friends with Deborah’s friend, a master carpenter, and he brought Deborah along one day to deliver a present to my dad.  I got a great gift too!  Deborah and I do an exchange of services and the work we do on both sides has had an enormous and positive effect.  I would not be here today writing this article without her guidance, intelligence, care, support and the gentle but firm pushes that I require from time to time.

I would also not be here today without the amazing support I’ve received from fellow Resonance Repatterning practitioners who embody generosity, intelligence, practicality and community.  In the beginning of 2010 I needed to speak to Liz Tobin about the upcoming Annual Conference and while we were chatting I told her that I was attempting to start my private practice.  She told me that when she began hers someone suggested that she try offering a 100 Days of Prosperity proxy package for $100 – just a dollar a day.  Liz told me she tried it and it worked quite well.  Liz is a master of the proxy group.  I’m currently enrolled in her “Transforming Money Archetypes and Karmic Contracts” proxy group series, its great and if you haven’t checked out her work, I totally recommend it.  I also recommend Beth Polito’s “Lunation” proxy group that works on the lunar cycles.  Being able to receive regular sessions in this manner has had a powerful and profound effect on me, my life and the work I’m able to do.

I officially launched my business in February of 2010 with the arrival of my very own website.  This was one month shy of the five year mark I’d so crazily intended in that long ago job interview.  I’d invested in a MacBook when I lost my job, so I was able to build the site myself using Apple’s iWeb software.  Building the site, and continuing to work on it, has been a surprising joy for me, and engages me on multiple levels.

By April of 2010, I was ready to try out the 100 Days series for myself and got so much out of it.  Once in the groove of doing a proxy session for my group each day I often lost sight of who was the giver and who was receiving.  The energy that the group created to move all of us forward was an honor and a joy to hold.  Doing the series stretched me in wonderful ways and on quite a few occasions I sort of ended up writing our own repatterning from what “was up” in the group.  The series was so well received that I offered a second series in October 2010.  The second series was even more popular and profound than the first and the feedback I’ve received has been tremendous.  A fellow Resonance Repatterning practitioner, who was a member of the group, wrote the following:

“100 days of prosperity–amazing!  A VERY deep healing experience.  While I can honestly say that money flowed more easily into my life, more importantly, areas of my life that were less than functional and coherent were transformed.  During the 100 days, I achieved a comfortable body weight that I have sought for over 3 decades without success. I was able to safely lose 30 lbs. in 7 weeks.   The structure of my financial life shifted.  For example, a gas-guzzling, repair-needing car has been traded in for a fuel-efficient new car that makes the whole family happy.  A computer system to support an additional income source was easily purchased at a very good sale price.  CORE things that affect my entire family’s prosperity shifted.  I recommend anyone who has the chance to do this work!  It is a gift!”

This is a journey and this is life, so there are coherent days and non-coherent days.  There are days when I somehow feel plugged into a giant cosmic engine and other days when I wouldn’t feel grounded if I filled my pockets with rocks and walked barefoot in the grass.  The primary thing I’ve come to understand in my journey thus far is that in working on Abundance we work on the full spectrum of life itself.  Delving down and identifying the blockages we have when it comes to giving and receiving, aligning with our masculine/feminine aspects or feeling safe and deserving touch core patterns that exist across all features of our human landscape.  In working to align with abundance we must chase our every feeling, belief and experience of scarcity, lack or shortage out of the dark and into the light.  We need to be fearless and to be gentle, compassionate and passionate, we need to empower and to allow ourselves to flourish and to thrive.

Resonance Repatterning® and Abundance

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about and working on Abundance, so this month’s Journal theme is right up my alley.  Twenty years ago I had a moment of clarity and realized that I was living in a state of scarcity, lack and poverty consciousness.  I worked seven days a week, had no vacation time, put in 67 hours between two jobs and was out of my house about 85 hours each week.  Having the moment of clarity was a miracle in itself since I was so tired most of the time I was simply on autopilot, moving from point A to point B and completing whatever task was in front of or assigned to me.

So in this moment of clarity I see that I’ve been looking at life, resources, and myself from one fixed position.  There’s never enough.  I was like a satellite dish only receiving this one signal.  I needed to know what other signals might be out there and then I needed to figure out how to become a receptor for them.  This was years before my first encounter with Resonance Repatterning, but intuitively I understood that once I’d identified my problem, “I live in a state of scarcity and lack,” I needed to identify a new way of being–specifically and in detail.

I decided to look up the opposite or antonym of scarcity because I wanted to flip the coin and live at the other end of the spectrum.  What I found was abundance.  A·bun·dance, according to dictionary.com is:

an extremely plentiful supply, a great or plentiful amount, an overflowing fullness.

That was a good start, but I wanted more detail so I looked up the synonyms for abundance and found:

affluence, wealth, ampleness, bounty, copiousness, fortune, myriad, opulence,
plenitude, plenty, plethora, profusion, prosperity, prosperousness, riches, and thriving.

YES, I thought, Yes indeed!  THESE are the signals I’d like to be receiving, but how do I become a subscriber to these signals of abundance, where do I sign up?  How do I become a receptor and turn myself in the direction of nurturance, plenty, prosperousness and abundance?”

I did okay for a while by simply changing my focus, but once Resonance Repatterning came into my life, answering the questions above became much easier.  The first time I used Resonance Repatterning to work on abundance or prosperity issues was during the three and a half years I participated in Kenya de Rosa’s weekly group for creative artists.  Kenya created this group in 1999 with the intention of helping creative artists clear away blockages that kept them from achieving all they desired for their creative selves and lives.

In Kenya’s group we worked with Catherine Ponder’s classic book The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity.  Using Resonance Repatterning to literally shift ourselves ON so we were resonating with the affirmations we found in the book was a revelation for me.  Doing this work taught me how resonating or being aligned with a thought or action manifested in me, physically, emotionally and mentally.  When I’m resonating with something everything is lined up inside me, there’s ease in my body and an upward flow of energy.  When I’m not resonating with my thoughts or actions, I suffer from that push-me-pull-you tension of wanting something with part of me while another less visible part pulls hard against it.

Working with Kenya inspired me to take classes to learn Resonance Repatterning for myself.  I began my studies in 2002 and in 2007 achieved my certification.  From the moment I completed Fundamentals, I’ve been using the tools of Resonance Repatterning to get my satellite dish pointed in the right direction so I can be receptive to the signals and frequencies of abundance.  Resonance Repatterning is an ideal tool for switching our systems ON for thriving and taking in the richness of life.  After Kenya’s group, I’ve been involved with many different groups using Resonance Repatterning to support an alignment with Abundance.

I participated in a prosperity group in 2004 offered by my dear friend and fellow practitioner Carol Cannon.  Carol is a Reiki Master, and so we used Reiki, principles and information from Debtors Anonymous and Resonance Repatterning to clear issues and intentions related to Abundance.  This was one of my favorite prosperity groups, as I won a free trip to London while I was in it.  Man, I LOVE manifesting!

Early in 2010 I spoke with Liz Tobin about the upcoming Annual RPA Conference and while we were chatting, I said I was in the process of launching my private practice.  She told me when she began her practice someone recommended she try offering a 100 Days of Prosperity proxy package for $100 – just a dollar a day.  She said it worked quite well for her and recommended I try it for myself.  This was like receiving a signal from an oracle, as Liz is a master of the proxy group.  Check out her “Transforming Money Archetypes and Karmic Contracts” series.  I joined and highly recommend it.  Being able to receive regular sessions in this manner has had a powerful and profound effect on me, on my life and the work I do.

Liz’s suggestion for the 100 Days project created a world of new possibilities for me.  Not only could I use the tools of Resonance Repatterning to become a receptor for abundance, I could offer this to others as well.  I could be a receptor, and a transmitter.  I could launch my business, share Resonance Repatterning with more people, helping them to create positive change in their lives, and continue to explore the myriad facets of abundance. Doing this 100 Days project was so successful that I’ve offered it twice already and my clients are eagerly anticipating my next session.

As I said, I’ve thought a lot about abundance since that moment of clarity twenty years ago, so this is a topic that’s not only close to my heart, its something I’ve learned quite a bit about.  I’ve come to understand that in working on abundance we work on the full spectrum of life itself.  Delving down and identifying the blockages we have when it comes to giving and receiving, creating coherence regarding our energy, power and success or working with our feelings of being safe and deserving touch core patterns that exist across all features of our human landscape.  I’ve learned that in working to align with abundance we must chase our every feeling, belief and experience of scarcity, lack or shortage out of the dark and into the light.  I’ve learned that we need to be fearless and to be gentle, compassionate and passionate, we need to empower and to allow ourselves to flourish and to thrive.

Having the opportunity to learn and the ability to use a system like Resonance Repatterning supports all of us in becoming an abundant source of coherence, comfort and service for our clients and in our world.  Being a source, as well as receiving from Source is, so far, the best way I’ve found of aligning with and experiencing abundance in my life.  But this is far from the end of my road; I always want to know more.  Tell me about your experiences with abundance and Resonance Repatterning.  Let’s all of us work to align with “an overflowing fullness” of all that life has to offer.
